Drinkle’s favorite DJ wins National Award

charly_hustle“I’m super excited and I feel confident because I practiced so much but also, nervous because I’ve never been a part of something this big before.”  – DJ Charly Hustle

We love this guy for his passion and kindness. He’ll always be our favourite DJ. You can read more about it here.

Good luck, Sean!

Loft space featured in Fall 2015 issue of Saskatoon Home

There’s a great write-up on the loft-style apartment in the latest issue of Saskatoon Home.

saskatoon-home-fall-2015“Carmen’s apartment is the first of 60 that Drinkle owner Dave Denny and design consultant her Opdahl are renovating to open the space, bring in more natural light and add heaps of character in homage to the building’s 100 year history.

Dave’s plan is to maximize on the European “micro-loft” feel of the apartments, and has spent two years getting the planning and design right for the first conversion. The original 12-foot height ceiling was restored and the full windows revealed. Walls were knocked out to open the space. A clever floor plan, furniture placement and salvaged materials create a combo of steampunk and repurposed chic.

Design consultant Sherry Opdahl of Atrous Consulting loves the minimalist approach to the project. This minimalist look, combined with the exposed brick, and original details, gives the space a definite European loft vibe that is very charming.”

Coming Soon – Bike Storage and Community Shed

Increasingly, our tenants are using bikes to get around Saskatoon. For this reason we are working to find better bike storage options. This summer we plan to offer a new indoor bike storage location by the back alley door. Other indoor locations are also being explored. We are also working with the city to locate an outdoor bike rack close to our building, and new bike locking equipment on the former parking meters.

Community Shed

Do you wish you had a vacuum, but don’t want to buy it, maintain it, or store it?  If so, your life may get easier with our new community shed. This spring we will convert one of the former garbage chute rooms to a community shed where everyone can share common items like vacuum, tools, mop, etc.

You can now reserve the Rooftop Deck for Dinner Parties

Some tenants have asked for the opportunity to reserve the deck to host dinner parties. For this reason we are experimenting this summer with taking 3 hour reservations. Reservation schedules will soon be incorporated into our new website, but for now just stop by our office or call to book or check the schedule. There will be a fee of $10 to book the deck and the proceeds will be put into a fund for future Drinkle tenant community events.
